Kirklee Mansion

In the heart of Glasgows’ West End, Kirklee Mansions are a collection of stunning apartments that have been sympathetically restored in a well recognised and listed building.

Retaining much of the original Victorian features, we were contacted by some of the new residents in the building who wanted to take the restoration work further.

While the internal building had retained much of the magnificent original 19th Century features, the residents wanted to add more grandeur with the addition of a new geometric tessellated entrance to this magnificent building.

As one of the leading Victorian Restoration Tilers and Conservation Tiling experts in Glasgow, we were chosen to complete this work.

The brief was simple, to add to the overwhelming sense of history as you look at the building, leaving you with a memory of sheer beauty and true craftsmanship.

Within the building itself, originally finished in 1904, we found a dated tile buried in the original groundwork and 116 year on, we have proudly left our own dated tile to add to the history of this stunning Victorian era building.

An interesting observation: As part of the tiling job, we have cut every finger and filler tile on the inner and outer borders so the grout lines land on the diamonds of the inner and outer fields.
