While modern domestic tiling revolves around standard/modern tiling patterns and a simple grid system; the older and original period mosaic tiling of so many homes across Scotland and the North of England truly is something to behold. The attention to detail, care and planning to create these beautiful tiled features is truly something to behold.
Sadly however, so many of these original features have been ripped up, covered over, painted over or left in a significant state of disrepair that they have become a shadow of their former selves.

We always work to fully restore the original tiling in order to keep the entire piece authentic. Where this simply cannot be done, we will painstakingly aim to use tiling sections that are as close to original as possible so that you simply couldn’t tell the difference.
Where tile restoration is simply not possible (because there weren’t any tiles there to begin with), our replication skills are second to none. There are lots of homeowners who want modern yet period looking tiling for their home. This can be classic Victorian style bathroom tiling to match the new sink, bathtub and toilet that complete the period look (yet are in fact brand new); or mosaic patterned front door step/entrance way that incorporates your homes house number into the design.

As we always say, we are a specialist tiler. This means that we handle Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian tiling restoration and repair. So many modern tilers simply do not have the skills or patience to handle this type of tiling.
